JOB ROLE: Catering Assistant

LOCATION: Liverpool L9

SALARY: £12.00 per hour

SHIFT PATTERNS: 30pw (Mon-Fri, 9am-3pm)

Experience catering for large numbers in a busy environment is essential

 

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced cook(s) to join our team on a part-time basis. 

Liverpool Progressive School and Walton Resource Centre are two services based on our site at Rice Lane, Liverpool L9. Within these services we support a range of children and adults, many with complex needs affecting behaviour and diet. As a Catering Assistant, you would be a member of a small team working under the direction of a Head Cook. You would partake in all aspects of planning and delivery of a main menu, catering for up to 150 people per day. In addition you would be involved in catering for a group with special dietary (SALT) requirements. Experience within a large commercial kitchen is essential. Experience working with dysphagia, SALT, special diets would be an advantage.

 

As a Catering assistant in Liverpool, you will;

  • Assist in the development of a menu which will include a main meal for up to 150 people and separate options to meet modified diet and allergy requirements.
  • To work alongside service heads/managers and the Head Cook to ensure that all modifications to individuals’ diets are met in the safest possible way.
  • Partake in all aspects of meal preparation, including cooking of balanced, varied, nutritious meals within a busy, controlled and hygienic environment.
  • Assist the Head Cook in ensuring that stock is appropriately ordered/purchased, rotated and maintained.
  • Assist in the implementation of an effective cleaning schedule to meet food hygiene standards.
  • Ensure temperature testing of foods and storage areas are carried out as required and accurate records are maintained.
  • Engage with the people we support and their staff to ensure that meal options are inclusive to all.
  • Engage with essential and recommended training opportunities aimed at developing and maintaining best and safest practice with the kitchen and wider environment.
