Senior Support Worker – Adult Residential

Location: Glan Y Felin (SA8)

Salary: £13.60 - £14.20 - This rate is effective as of 1st April - if you start prior to this date, your hourly rate will be £12.80 - £13.40 and will be automatically uplifted on 1st April

Shift Patterns: 08:30AM-21:00PM / 21:00PM-8:30AM

Hours: 35 hours per week

Full UK driving license with access to a vehicle required!

 About Glan Y Felin:

Just off the main road in Rhyd Y Fro, a small village just outside Pontardawe. The home supports 7 Gentlemen with a variety of needs including brain injury, autism and learning disability. We offer a calm environment that supports people to maintain intendant living skills such as cooking and cleaning some may require more help than others at times.

Glan Y Felin is a lovely place to work with long serving knowledgeable staff. The individuals like to go out into the community to do various things like visiting local pub, trips to Cardiff/Swansea, attending football matches, cinema, bowling, coffees and eating out.

*Please note, due to our location staff would ideally have access to a car as there is poor public transportation links to the village*

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of Support Workers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care to adults in supported living environments.
  • Promote independence, dignity, and well-being for individuals with a variety of care needs.
  • Support individuals with daily tasks such as personal care, household duties, budgeting, and accessing community activities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of individual care plans.
  • Liaise with external agencies and professionals to ensure individuals receive the best possible care.
  • Take part in team meetings, supervision sessions, and provide coaching and mentoring to Support Workers.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years experience as a Support Worker in an adult care setting.
  • A Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle is desirable, as travel between locations is required.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable adults.
  • Experience in supervising or leading a team.
